About

For quite a while, I have been taking photos of the cities I happen to visit. I have so far taken thousands of digital photos, and I plan to exhibit most of them on this site. I have started the site on late August 2007, and if I keep posting 10 photos a day in average, it shouldn't take me more than three years to upload all the material I have as of today.

My photography focuses on the concept of 'the city' as a barometer of humanity. I find the choices people make when building cities very intriguing. Besides, the environment people create for themselves tell a lot about the prevalent values of the land. The way a financial district or a residential area is organized, the location, design, and the accessibility of the government buildings, the ambiance of the educational institutions, the prevalent idea of fun, the things people like to eat/drink, or the way they dress can each tell at least a thing or two. In that sense, I never try to take 'nice pictures' of any particular city. Instead, I try to be descriptive, and capture things as they are.

The Photographer

The photographs on this site will - for the most part - be from the United States and Canada, since I lived most of my life in Northern America after owning a digital camera. I have so far been to almost all major cities in the United States and Canada, however that does not mean that I have sufficient coverage for each and every one of those places. This is mainly because I never visited a city with the sole purpose of photographing it. Although I was sometimes fortunate enough to devote a whole day (or even two) to sightseeing, in most cases that was not the case.

After I finish uploading all of the material, which I believe will account to more than 10,000 entries, I plan to increase the quantity and the quality on a regular basis - especially the latter.
